If you don’t have FTP access for your website, then it can be
trickier to go with the older verification methods for Google webmaster tools. Since
Google switched to ‘not provided’ for the bulk of keyword data in Google
Analytics, webmaster tools has become the go to place for keyword insight for
marketers. No longer just for SEOs, and of course, webmasters, nowadays small
business owners and marketers alike should have an understanding of navigating
webmaster tools.
One of the simplest ways to set up
webmaster tools on your website is to verify using Google Analytics. To do so,
simply follow the instructions for setting up a new website within WebmasterTools and click on ‘Alternate Methods’ when you reach the verification
screen. Then, choose Google Analytics as your verification option and click
‘Verify’. If you are logged in with the same Gmail account as your Google
Analytics for your chosen website, the verification process should happen
almost instantly once you have hit ‘Verify’.
